Spruce Up Your Kitchen
Spring may not be exactly right around the corner, but that doesn’t mean you can’t swap out some accents in your home—kitchen to brighten and refresh your space from the winter gloom.
Leslie Hutchison from Leslie Hutchison Interiors, LLC suggests a few simple items you can find at your local Home Goods, Pottery Barn, or TJ Maxx that are quick and easy:
- Table Runners
- Candles
- Towels
- Vases with fresh flowers—Trader Joe’s is a great place to find fresh flowers
- Plants
- Ceramic/Glass Jars—Home Goods has “can’t beat” prices on ceramic jars (as shown below) similar to those from William Sonoma
- Frames—Updating and swapping out frames
- Rug—Small rug for in front of your kitchen sink
Keep in mind that your room (accessories) should be a collection of treasures that make you happy and make you smile when you see them. They shouldn’t look pre-packed, but a natural collection of treasures from your travels and fun objects that represent you.
A sample collection may include:
- A gift from a loved one
- Vintage books
- Figurines/Statues
- Basket
- Photo
Be creative and try a few different things—play with layering (using some items that are taller than others) and different styles! Whatever you come up with make sure it makes you happy.
