Hyland Homes Contemporary Kids’ and Master Bath Remodels

The Situation: Hyland Homes was hired for (2) second floor bath remodels: kids’ bath, which abutted the master bath and was an awkward, cramped space that was growing increasingly less functional as their elementary school children grew up. On the flip side, there was a spacious master bath that didn’t make efficient use of its square footage. Hyland Homes was tasked with eliminating the unused whirlpool tub and generous tile deck around its perimeter. We then reinvented the dimensions of both rooms, relocated the fixtures to deliver both bathrooms with improved floors plans and refreshing aesthetics.

Both existing bathrooms featured a small skylight at the top of a drywall shaft reaching down to a dropped 8′ ceiling. Hyland Homes removed the dropped ceilings, installed larger skylights flush with the ceiling, and worked with the existing slope of the roof to give each bathroom a vaulted reach. The immediate result? A feeling of greater volume and a dramatic increase of natural light.

After some engineering where plumbing was concerned, (2) new floor plans were established that utilized the space and offered greater functionality. New custom vanities, mirrors, Carrara Marble, and a Neo-Angle Deluxe master shower with his’ and hers’ controls in the master bathroom. We carried the Carrara Marble throughout the kids’ bathroom in addition to mosaic tumbled Carrara Marble, which is more durable and functional than marble.

Favorite features include:

  • Additional skylights to create immense natural light
  • Tumbled Carrara Marble in the Kids’ Bathroom
  • Master walk-in shower
