Castle Restoration and Remodel in Long Beach, Indiana

Eclectic Design and Modern Touches

The castle restoration and remodel project in Long Beach, Indiana was a project for a close friend who purchased a 1929 reproduction of a French Castle. We were hired to bring the structure back from non-existence.

Interior and exterior were co-designed with Hyland Homes and the homeowners. The exterior features retrofitted storm windows and screens to preserve the original lead frame casement windows; tuck-pointing done around the stone; and we built a new staircase off the back.

On the interior we tried to keep with a lot of the unique arched doorways, but also expanding some openings. The house had a steel girder skeleton and poured concrete floors, 6″ thick plaster walls and ceilings, which presented challenged. We installed new reclaimed mixed barnwood hardwood floors throughout the 1st floor and spalted quarter sawn maple on the 2nd floor. The laundry room used to be the old porch, and now includes hidden washer and dryer.

Restoration and creative remodel problem-solving is our forte. Can we help with your remodel?
